The BBC Channel
BBC News channel is the 24 hour rolling news TV channel in UK. This channel was launched with the name BBC News 24 on November 9 1997 at 17.30. It was launched as part of the foray of British Broadcasting Corporation into digital home television channel, and was the 1st competitor for Sky News, which was running since the year 1989. After that there were many re-launches and the increase in fund and resources from BBC gave lot of improvements to technology for digital television. The channel has diversified content, with 2 small looped bulletins that were available for viewing through BBC Red Button, BBC mobile website and BBC News Online along with individual sports and weather bulletins.
During the month of May 2007, BBC news was available to viewers in UK through the news website in live stream. It was renamed as “BBC News” in April 2008 as part of the 550 thousand pound rebranding of news output of BBC news with new presentation and studio. The BBC World News which was the sister service also became popular along with the other news bulletins BBC News at Six, BBC News at Ten and BBC News at One. As an important part of BBC News, the channel was based from BBC Television centre broadcast.
Every hour contains headlines in every quarter and there will be rolling news coverage which includes live interviews and reports. Weather summaries are given every ½ hour by the BBC Weather Centre forecasters. The BBC also maintains certain guidelines for the procedures which are taken for the breaking news. There were many breaking events which were telecasted in BBC World news including London Bombings, September 11 attacks, and capture of Saddam Hussein etc. There was a program called Breakfast launched by BBC in 2000 and has been multicast in BBC News and BBC One. The other famous programs in BBC World News are Click, HARDtalk, The Record Europe, Straight Talk, Reporters, Your Money, E24 and Our World. The various other news programs in BBC News include Your News, STORYFix, BBC News 24 Tonight, Head 2 Head. There is an hourly business update in the weekdays from BBC Business unit that is presented by Aaron Heslehurst and Simon Jack during the BBC Breakfast. There was also some sports coverage in BBC News and football matches were telecasted in the channel.
